TREE is a Wood Sculpture Art.
I wanted to take advantage of the taste and undulations of the part that was in contact with the bark, so I started from that part both when designing the whole and when starting the sculpture. It is a Japanese cypress tree "hinoki" that had been cut down for sustainable forest management and has lived for over 100 years. I used that wood to represent an old giant tree with hollows and cavities. Undulations were created from various methods and angles on the front, top, and inner space. You can enjoy the collaboration of wood grain curves and carving curves.
樹皮に接していた部分の味わいや起伏を活かしたいため、全体をデザインする時も、彫刻を始める時も、その部分から取り組みました。持続可能な森林経営のために伐採された樹齢100年以上生きたひのきです。その木材で、洞や窪みを持つ古い巨樹を表現しました。正面、上部、内部空間にまで、様々な方法で、様々な角度からつくられた起伏たち。木目の曲線と彫刻の曲線のコラボレーションをお楽しみいただけます。

The moment I saw the color and texture of the part that was in contact with the bark, I fell in love with the beauty. I wanted to take advantage of its taste and undulations to the work, so I started from that part both when designing the whole and when starting carving.
樹皮に接していた部分の色と質感を見た瞬間、その美しさに惚れ込みました。作品にその味わいとうねりを活かしたいと考えました。全体をデザインする時も、彫り始める時も、その部分から取り組みました。
The back of this work is a very surprising design that you can't imagine from the front. I think that unexpectedness brings surprises and discoveries to those who see it. The beauty of the wood grain especially stands out in the parts where the undulations were hardly made.
この作品の背面は、正面から見た時からは想像することができないほどの大変意外性のあるデザインです。その意外性は、見てくださる方に驚きや発見をもたらすと考えます。起伏をほとんど作らなかった部分は、木目の美しさが特に際立ちます。

The sculpture is made from a single piece of wood, and it is the only one of its kind in the world. The wood grown for sustainable forestry is used. The 'KIDEKIWHORU' logo is engraved on it. The paint is safe because it is made from natural materials and it doesn't almost smell. Depending on each monitor, the colors may differ slightly from the actual work.
