When I first started carving, I was surprised at how soft the magnolia wood was, but as I progressed, I realized that it sometimes felt hard depending on the direction of carving, the way the grain entered the wood, and the distance to the bark.

彫り始めは朴の柔らかさに驚いていましたが、彫り進めていくにしたがって、彫る方向や、その木目の入り方、そして樹皮までの距離によって、硬く感じる場合もあることに気付きました。
