I carved out most of the four radiating branches in the foreground, and as I started to work on the center, I noticed that it was starting to take on an interesting shape. Dark wood is beautiful in that it can look pale or deep depending on how the light hits it.

手前の4本の放射状に広がる枝々の大部分を彫り上げて中心部に取り掛かりはじめると、興味深い形になってきたことに気付きました。濃い色の木材は、光の当たり方によって淡い色に見えたり深い色に見えたりすることが美しいです。
