I laid it on its side and took the photo. The side is carved perpendicular to the grain, but in a different direction than the top. I am going to carve some spaces between the folds on the side that connect to the top, one of which will be quite large and impressive.

横に寝かせて撮影しました。側面は木目に対して垂直に、しかしそれは上面とは異なる向きで彫られています。側面の襞と襞の隙間から上面に向かってつながる空間をいくつか彫るつもりですが、その中のひとつは見応えのある大きなものとなるでしょう。
