The bottom part goes against the grain of the wood, so it is difficult not only when shaping it but also when finishing it to make it smooth. However, I carve it with respect, thinking about how it has supported the branches and leaves.

底部は木目に逆らうことになるので、形を作るときだけではなく仕上げ作業でなめらかに整えるのが大変です。しかし枝や葉たちを支えてきたことに想いを馳せ、敬いながら削っています。
