How and to what extent do wood grain patterns influence the overall impression of a work? I often consider this when carving pieces with large surface areas made of cypress, where the grain patterns are clearly visible in various colors and thicknesses.

木目模様はその作品に対する印象にどのように、そしてどの程度の影響をもたらすだろうかと、それらがさまざまな色や太さで明確にあらわれるひのきで、表面積の広い箇所を持つ作品を彫る時にたびたび考えています。

Photographing against a black background while playing with light always brings me enjoyment, a sense of tension, and new insights into my work.

黒い背景を用いて光と戯れながらの撮影は、いつも楽しさと緊張感とその作品に対する新たな気付きを与えてくれます。

Because cypress wood has distinct colored lines in its wood grain, you can carefully observe its unique characteristics. Since I use wood that grew straight up, the lines run parallel, but interesting movements emerge depending on the depth and direction in which I carve.

ひのきはその木目たちが明瞭な色の線を持つので、じっくりとその独特な味わいを観察することができます。まっすぐに育った木材を使用しているので平行して並ぶ線たちですが、彫り進める深さや方向によって、興味深い動きが生まれてきます。

The sculpture is made from a single piece of wood, and it is the only one of its kind in the world. The wood grown for sustainable forestry is used. The 'KIDEKIWHORU' logo is engraved on it. The paint is safe because it is made from natural materials and it doesn't almost smell. Depending on each monitor, the colors may differ slightly from the actual work.
