WAVES is a Wood Sculpture Art.
Branches wave toward the sky. While maintaining an appropriate distance from each other, I represented how each of them plays freely in the space. The overlapping of them shows various expressions depending on the viewing direction.
枝々が波打ちながら空へと向かう。お互いに適度な距離感を保ちながらも、空間の中で、それぞれが自由に遊ぶ様子を表現しました。それらの重なりは、見る向きによって様々な表情を見せます。

How can I let each branch play freely? It depends not only on the size of the wood, the thinness and number of branches, but also how far the tips of the chisels can reach.
どのようにそれぞれの枝々を自由に遊ばせることができるのか？それは木材の大きさや枝の細さや本数だけではなく、鑿の先端がどこまで届くかにもよります。
The more depth I add to my work as a whole, the more complex the shapes are, creating various curves and undulations, the more interesting the photography becomes. Even a slight change in the viewing direction and the way the light hits the image can make a big difference.
作品全体に奥行きを持たせるほど、様々な曲線やうねりを作り複雑なかたちになればなるほど、写真撮影は面白くなります。見る向きがわずかに異なるだけで、また、光の当て方によって印象が大きく変わります。
When I took this photo, I was very surprised even though it was my own work. I carved it for so long, and even though I took many photos while carving, I never noticed this expression.
この写真を撮った時、わたしは自分自身で作った作品にも関わらずとても驚きました。あれほど長い時間をかけて彫り続けて、また、彫りながら多くの写真も撮ったのにこの表情があることに一度も気づきませんでした。

The sculpture is made from a single piece of wood, and it is the only one of its kind in the world. The wood grown for sustainable forestry is used. The 'KIDEKIWHORU' logo is engraved on it. The paint is safe because it is made from natural materials and it doesn't almost smell. Depending on each monitor, the colors may differ slightly from the actual work.
